The new logo for Springdale was announced Friday (Jan. 22) during the 94th annual Springdale Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Logo components will be incorporated by the chamber, Springdale Public Schools and the City.

Scott Edmondson, formerly the vice president of economic development for the Springdale Chamber of Commerce, resigned recently and is now working for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) in Little Rock.

Chamber CEO Bill Rogers said Edmondson’s final day was Sept. 8. Edmondson and his wife Andrea relocated to central Arkansas to be closer to children and grandchildren.

“[Andrea] was able to retire as a public school teacher but secure a teaching position at the same private school where one of her sons is a football coach and teacher,” Rogers said. “We hate losing them both, but it’s a good deal for their family.”

With the AEDC, a division of the Department of Commerce, Edmondson started Sept. 19 as a business manager for east central Arkansas, working with manufacturers and industry in nearly a dozen counties.

Edmondson joined the Springdale chamber’s leadership team in 2014. Before joining the chamber, he spent nearly 30 years working in Arkansas’ banking sector. He graduated from Springdale High School and the University of Arkansas.

ROGERS CHAMBER UPDATE
Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce has added a new staff member in Sara Lynn Geiger, the vice president of government affairs. She began the job on Sept. 12.

Before relocating to Northwest Arkansas, Geiger worked in the Florida House of Representatives as a legislative aide for the education committee and the ways and means committee. She also was a liaison for varying interest groups, state agencies and elected officials. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida.

Geiger filled the role previously held by Jon Moran, who resigned after seven years this past February.
