LAPEER, MI – A Thursday afternoon fire caused significant damage at a Lapeer salon, authorities said.
Lapeer fire crews were dispatched just before 2 p.m. Thursday, July 21, to the Inspired Salon and Spa, 210 S. Saginaw St.
Two customers and an employee were evacuated from the business, Lapeer Fire Chief Mike Vogt said.
Residents at a nearby apartment were also evacuated. There were no injuries reported.
Vogt said the business sustained significant damage due to the fire as well as water and smoke.
Crews were able to quickly contain the fire with the assistance of fire crews from Elba Township, Metamora Township and Attica Township.
Authorities remained on the scene until around 5 p.m. because a natural gas line began to leak and needed to be assessed by Consumers Energy.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
