According to Bay Area homicide investigators, Cash App co-founder Bob Lee was stabbed by his killer amid an argument over the suspect’s sister.
New court docs filed late this week by prosecutors in the case allege Lee — who was stabbed to death in San Francisco earlier this month — was in the middle of a disagreement with accused killer Nima Momeni before the murder. The two men were reportedly arguing about Nima’s sister Khazar Momeni (pictured above, center) at the time of the tragedy.
According to TMZ, which obtained and revealed the presence of these new court docs on Friday afternoon, Bob and Nima had “a spat” before the murder. At least one witness claims the fight was about whether Khazar was “doing drugs or anything inappropriate” while spending time with Lee.
In the court docs, prosecutors say the witness alleges Lee “tried to talk Momeni down” and “reassure him” that his sister was safe and in good hands. That conversation first supposedly happened in the afternoon or early evening of April 3. Hours later, Bob was stabbed to death. Now, police claim Nima, who they arrested days ago, is the alleged killer.
Investigators have pieced together Bob’s final moments with security camera video and other surveillance tools. According to cops, Lee left his San Francisco hotel at 12:31 am local time on the morning of April 4. He walked the eight-minute route to Khazar’s place. Then, at around 2:00 am, Nima showed up to Khazar’s apartment. Moments later, he and Bob leave in Khazar’s car and “drive to a secluded area.”
At that point, prosecutors claim, Nima allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Bob three times, including “once directly in the heart.” In these court documents, prosecutors allege they have video of the actual stabbing. Other video taken minutes later shows Bob staggering for help after having been stabbed.
Prosecutors also claim Khazar was texting Lee after that night’s argument.
In one text, she supposedly wrote to Bob:
“Nima came wayyyyyy down hard on you.”
And in another to the murdered tech exec, she added:
“Thank you for being such a classy man handling it with class Love you Selfish pricks.”
Here is more on the court documents released late this week, and the ongoing murder investigation:
Per TMZ, Nima Momeni does have a prior criminal history.
He was apparently arrested in 2004 and charged with driving under the influence. Then, he was arrested again in 2011 and accused of being in possession of an illegal switchblade.
