Pramila Patten is the United Nations special representative on sexual violence in conflict and who has informed the world about the more than 100 Ukrainian women who are testifying to their government about their encounters with the Russians claiming that they have been raped by Russians.

Rape as a military strategy

Patten claims that Russia is using rape as a military strategy while they are trying to expand into Ukraine, and proof of this is the administering of medication for sexual performance.

“When you hear women testify about Russian soldiers equipped with Viagra, it’s clearly a military strategy,”.

Patten also claims that the UN has verified “more than a hundred cases” of rape or different types of sexual assault ever since the war began back in February.

Girls, boys, men, and women have been raped according to officials

The UN official claims that the main victims have been girls and women, however, there have been reports that both boys and men have been raped as well.

War crimes have been committed officials claim

Last month, the top seat of the organization’s Independent International Commission of Inquiry into Ukraine wrote that Russian soldiers have committed rampant war crimes against non-combatant civilians, these crimes contemplate unlawful confinement, torture and rape.

Patten has elaborated saying that in some cases family members of the victims who have been raped were forced to watch how the Russian soldiers performed the acts.

“Reported cases are only the tip of the iceberg,” Patten told the media, “The numbers will never reflect reality because sexual violence is a silent crime.”

As expected, the Russian government has denied all war crime allegations.
